Hotels for Battersea Millennium Arena

The Georgian House Hotel is a great place to stay for a venue in Battersea Millenium Aren. The hotel is extremely close to the Battersea Millenium Arena, just a walk away.

Location of Millennium Arena

Battersea Millennium Arena is located in Battersea Park, in London, just a couple of miles south from Marble Arch. You probably never knew that an inner city park could have this much variety, hidden secrets and simple enjoyments. It is considered by many to be the most interesting of all the London Parks.

What is the Battersea Millennium Arena?
The original track here was built in the 1920s and was cinder and 3 laps to the mile. It was subsequently shortened to 440y in 1951 and then to 400m in the late 1960s. The GLC put up £350K to upgrade it to a Spurtan BS synthetic track and the opening meeting was on 26th June 1983. At the end of May 1999, the track closed for a year to replace the old pavilion with a new two-storey one, to build a covered stand alongside the home straight and to upgrade the track from 6 lanes all round to 8 lanes. The cost of this was £2.6M and was jointly funded by Wandsworth Council and a Lottery Sports Award.

The track was built by Ballast Wiltshier and H.E. Construction Services Ltd. and has a Polytan WS surface which is very soft. It is now officially known as the Millennium Arena but previously it was just called Battersea Park Athletics Track. The downstairs of the pavilion is for athletics changing and the upstairs is a fitness centre. It was first used for a Scouts meeting on 21st May, opened to the public for training on 22nd May, was officially opened by Tessa Sanderson on 1st June and the official track opening meeting was on 4th June 2000.

Events at Battersea Millennium Arena
Computing celebrated its 30th Anniversary in some style at the gala Computing Awards dinner held in Battersea Arena, London. With over 1,000 guests, the Computing Awards is THE event of the IT calendar and guests from across the industry, vendors, users, IT managers and the usual crop of analysts, consultants and journalists turned out to party hard.

There is a number of special Fun Days at the Battersea Park.
Weather permitting, every Tuesday and Friday, this summer you can listen to Music in the Battersea Park at the lakeside cafe', La Gondola al Parco. The action starts at 7pm and continues through to 11pm and the entrance is free.
