Bed and Breakfast for
Canary Wharf
Georgian House Hotel makes
a great place to stay if you are planning a trip to Canary
Wharf. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Victoria
Station to take the Jubilee line across to Canary Wharf.
What is in Canary Wharf?
Canary Wharf is planned on a grand scale, yet with meticulous
attention to detail. The estate extends to over 86 acres
and is so called because when in use as a dock, many of
the imports were from the Canary Islands. Approximately
6 million net square feet of office and retail space has
been constructed to date with a further 8.1 million square
feet under construction.
The first tenants moved into Canary Wharf in August 1991.
Now, approx. 95% of the existing space is leased with 55,000
people working here. The current development comprises of
eighteen office buildings, a retail centre, conference and
banqueting centre, Docklands Light Railway station, a London
Underground station, landscaped grounds and five car parks
(in addition to car parking below the office buildings).
Canary Wharf amenities
Canary Wharf has been designed with emphasis on creating
a pleasant working environment. Careful attention has been
given to the provision of public open spaces, including
parks, squares and promenades. A full range of shops and
services exists and expansion under Canada Square is now
being developed. Tenants and visitors can enjoy going to
bars and restaurants on the promenades and within the retail
areas, and on-going arts and events activities provided
by Canary Wharf Group plc's arts and events department.
There is a range of amenities within Canary Wharf and surrounding
areas including health & sports clubs, child care, theatres
& cinemas and Canary Wharf's own banqueting, conference
and concert facility, Cabot Hall.
