Chelsea Flower Show
The ultimate gardening event of the year, perfect for "green fingered" enthusiasts!
What is Chelsea Flower Show?
Chelsea Flower Show is one of the biggest London events held once every year in May. It is open to the public, but it is also loved and visited by the Royal Family. Chelsea Flower Show is the event for a great time out for anyone, who likes flora, enjoys gardening and would like to know all the latest on how to do it best. On the last day of the Chelsea Flower Show you can get fantastic deals on flora samples and garden furniture.
Planning to visit Chelsea Flower Show
The first 2 days of the show are open to RHS members only. If you wish to take advantage of privilege priced tickets, you can visit on the public days . The show closes at 5.30pm on the last day. Sale of display plants starts at 4.30pm.
Chelsea Flower Show is only held for 1 week and it can sometimes prove difficult to get to. It is strongly recommended to use public transport when going to the Chelsea Flower Show, because parking in the area is strictly limited. If you are staying at the Georgian House Hotel you can simply walk to the show - there is a public car park close to the hotel.
Planning your day at the Chelsea Flower Show is down to a matter of what interests you and what you want to see – as well as the weather! However, there are a few good rules to follow. The Floral Pavilions can become very busy and crowded - although their new layout provides wider gangways and more space than the old Great Marquee ever did. It is usually a good idea to arrive as early as possible and either start or end your day here before the crowds at the Chelsea Flower Show build up.
There is no re-admission once you leave the showground, although RHS members will be allowed re-admission for the sell-off, on production of a valid membership card or goods receipt/ticket stub. Groups are welcome, but there are no discounts. RHS Shows recorded information line: 020 7649 1885.
Advice for Chelsea Flower Show Visitors
The displays and gardens in Ranelagh Gardens tend to be a bit quieter, so this is a good place to visit when you need a bit more peace and quiet and when the crowds are gathering in the Floral Pavilions. There are eating and seating areas here too.
It is always worth being well prepared for a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, and bringing a few extra bits and pieces will make your visit so much enjoyable. Clothing very much depends on the weather - Chelsea can either be boiling, hot and sunny or a tad damp - to say the least. Make sure you bring adequate and suitable clothing for either situation.
Food and drink: A wide range of food and drink is available for sale on Chelsea Flower Showground, but if you have any particular dietary requirements it would be worth bringing your own.
Don't forget a pen and a notepad to make extensive notes of what you see on the day.
