St. Patrick's Day
Take the whole family to London and join in this annual Irish festival.
St. Patrick's Day Parade
St. Patrick's Day is a uniquely Irish holiday but it is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other national holiday, and it is growing in popularity.
The parade is free and is a great day out in the capital for all the family. The parade will begin at Hyde Park Corner and finish at Whitehall. It will follow the route from Park Lane to Hyde Park Corner, down Piccadilly to Piccadilly Circus. It moves on to Lower Regent Street, by Trafalgar Square and disperses at Whitehall Place. The parade will form at 11a.m. and will end at approximately 3pm at the Embankment.
The St Patrick’s Day parade promises to be bigger and better than previous years. The aim is to rival the annual international parades that are so popular and successful in New York and Dublin and other cities across the world. You can expect to see a musical procession of large marching bands and bright and colourful floats. There are floats from all the Irish counties and the streets will be lined with various stalls.
- Trafalgar Square - Trafalgar Square will have a main performance stage where you can enjoy both traditional and contemporary Irish music.
- Leicester Square - Leicester Square will feature dance, music and story-telling workshops, as well as the usual street performers.
- Covent Garden - Covent Garden is where you can sample all the Irish delicacies from the market stalls, whilst listening to traditional music. The Irish artisan food market has some of Ireland’s finest food and drink manufacturers with a wide range of products to choose from.
