She is known as one of the world's most popular entertainers due to her very powerful voice coupled with a powerful and energetic stage presence. She is also considered to have the most famous and well-proportioned legs in the show business world.

She is also the oldest female artist to have a number one single in the US with the hit "What's Love Got To Do With It" at the age of 44.

Tina Turner' Rise to Fame

Tina Turner is the stage name of Anna Mae Bullock born in Haywood County in Tennessee on 26th November 1939. Bullock started singing with Ike Turner, an R&B musician, in his shows at the age of 18 going by the name "Little Ann".

Tina Turner’s first hit was "A Fool in Love" in 1960 when the scheduled singer didn't show up for the recoding and Bullock had to step in. The song became a hug R&B hit and this is when Ike gave Bullock the stage name of Tina Turner.

Ike and Tina married in Mexico in 1962 and raised four sons (one was the son of both her and Ike). The duo with the band, The Ike and Tina Turner Revue continued to rise to stardom into the 1970s with a string of hits. Tina Turner began to develop a unique stage persona, thrilling audiences at the band’s shows and concerts with her singer-dancer performances and amazing dance routines on stage.

Tina Turner left Ike just before a concert in the mid 1970s after the band started to become less popular due to bad management by Ike and his voracious drug habit. Tina turned to the Buddhist faith and struck out as a solo artist on her own when she realised that she was legally responsible to the tour promoters after walking out.

Since then, Tina Turner's musical career has gone from strength to strength after gaining a no.1 hit in 1984.
