Take the family out to an attraction that they will never forget!
The London Dungeon Attraction
The London Dungeon brings more than 2,000 years of gruesomely authentic history vividly back to life and death. As you delve into the darkest chapters of our grim and bloody past, recreated in all its dreadful detail remembers: everything you experience really happened. Deep in the heart of London, buried beneath the paving stones of historic Southwark, lies the world's most chillingly famous horror attraction. A warning - in the London Dungeon's dark catacombs it always pays to keep your wits about you... some of the 'exhibits' have an unnerving habit of coming back to life. We hope you will find your visit to the London Dungeons both stimulating and thought provoking.
Now, from the twenty first centuries, we look back on these dark chapters of our history with a mixture of horror and amazement. Man's inhumanity to man through the centuries appears to have known no bounds. There is no question that we have, as a society, come a very long way from medieval witch-hunts, political and religious persecution and summary execution. We no longer accept the dreadful retribution meted out for petty crimes or raising dissenting voices, we shudder at the thought of confessions extracted by eager torturers and prison conditions that were often a death sentence in them.
All of this was part and parcel of everyday life from the time of the Roman occupation until the beginning of the 19th century...less than 200 years ago. Today our legal system and penal code strive to make the punishment fit the crime and no one individual is above the law. If we cannot learn from the mistakes of our ancestors then we run the risk of letting history repeat it... Welcome to London Dungeon.
