Planet Hollywood London
A Hollywood themed restaurant serving many diverse ranges of meals.
Planet Hollywood - themed restaurant
Planet Hollywood the only dining experience inspired by the world of film and television first opened in New York October of 1991. Planet Hollywood’s shareholders include restaurateur Robert Earl, Demi Moore, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis. The highly successful restaurant has mirrored its success in London, Chicago, Hong Kong, Paris, Barcelona and more.
The idea for Planet Hollywood was originated by Keith Barish, the film producer responsible for "The Fugitive". Soon afterwards, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis joined as shareholders. Demi Moore signed on as a shareholder during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Washington D.C. location that opened in October of 1993.
Grand openings of Planet Hollywood have become a major media event. Visitors to the restaurants can expect to see some of the world’s most valuable movie and television memorabilia. Among the hundreds of artefacts on display are items from the four shareholders’ movies, as well as memorabilia with a local area connection. Memorabilia is also presented at special ceremonies inside the restaurants. The celebrity hand print walls are very popular features at all Planet Hollywood’s.
The menu specialises in freshly prepared foods which have become the backbone of California’s new classic cuisine-unusual pastas, exotic salads, turkey burgers, pizzas, a variety of vegetarian offerings, blackened shrimp, smoked and grilled meats and fish. There is a wide range of tempting desserts, including Schwarzenegger’s mother’s renowned apple strudel.
A full line of Planet Hollywood clothing is available in the merchandise shop. Items including hats, T-shirts, boxer shorts, vests, beach towels, denim and leather jackets and other speciality items are on sale to guests who want to take a piece of Planet Hollywood home with them.
All four make a habit of dropping in to chat with customers whenever they are in town. And since Planet Hollywood restaurant's have been established in over 50 towns around the world (London being the fourth), the star spangled group must spend as much time worrying about what we eat these days as they do making movies.
Bob Earl, the man who created the Hard Rock chain, chose the film memorabelia, which attracts so many customers. The dress Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz is part of the collection in the cafe near Piccadilly Circus. It's a noisy place with film clips showing constantly on one of the cafe's giant screens and the service is fast once you get your table. Planet Hollywood is located at Coventry Street.
