Hampton Court Palace
Hampton Court Palace spans 500 years of history. It is a beautiful historic building and is set in landscaped gardens on the riverside. The Royal Apartments are filled with beautiful antiquities and there is a programme of themed events for families ranging from discovering the Court of William III to the fool school where you can learn how to entertain Henry VIII. Hampton Court Palace makes an ideal day out when the weather is good, as the setting is perfect and there is plenty of opportunity and space for children to run about and let off steam. It is on the fringes of London, near East Molesey in Surrey. It takes 30 minutes to get there by train from Waterloo, or alternatively you can take a riverboat from Westminster Pier. There is a special children's playroom for young children with Duplo tables and soft activities, there are good changing facilities and family trails are available from the Information Centre. Tickets are fairly expensive although you can buy joint tickets for the Tower
of London and Kensington Palace, which are good value. To find out more about prices, events and opening times visit www.hampton-court-palace.org.uk
