Hotel for Playtex Moonwalk
The Georgian House Hotel is a great
place to stay if you are planning to take part in Playtex
Moonwalk.
What is the Playtex Moonwalk?
Playtex Moonwalk is an annual event, organised by Walk
the Walk in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, attracted
8,000 bra-clad women walking through the night to raise
money through sponsorship. The 2003 Playtex Moonwalk was
the 7th in London, with again approximately 15000 women
and a few brave men taking part, making it the biggest power-walking
marathon in the world. It took place in Battersea Park.
Where and when did it take place?
This year the Playtex Moonwalk took place on 20th May 2006
in London. They managed to raise nearly £800k.
History of the Playtex Moonwalk
The charity was founded by Nina Barough who at that time
had a styling and production business. Nina woke up one
morning with what seemed a brilliant idea - to power walk
the New York marathon in decorated bras to raise money for
breast cancer. What makes this story so incredible is that
Nina at that time had no experience whatsoever of fund raising,
power walking or taking part in a marathon nor did she know
anyone who had been affected by breast cancer. In November
1996 the dream became a reality when 13 women took to the
streets of New York in decorated bras. Although the main
idea was to have fun..it resulted in raising over £25,000
for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Playtex Moonwalk Today
It is hard to believe that Walk the Walk has only been
an official charity for such a short time. Nina, has managed
to turn a simple idea into a dynamic charity which promotes
healthy eating and lifestyle and at the same time raises
significant funds for breast cancer research and care. Nina's
passion for healthy eating and exercise has inspired many
others, in fact the Moonwalk is often described as a life-changing
event by those who take part. Many men and women who have
never power walked or been involved in any sort of fitness
before are becoming ardent walkers. It appears that Walk
the Walk is achieving its goal of making people more aware
and making them responsible for their health whilst having
fun.
The Walk-to-Walk motto is to raise money, raise awareness,
get fit and have fun!

The organisers are looking for all sorts of people to do
many different jobs, for example, to drive recovery vehicles,
to help in the registration office, team leaders, and marshals
on route. Or maybe you are a night person, and it is easy
for you to be enthusiastic and encouraging when people need
it the most!
They can not guarantee specific jobs, but the more they
know about you the better they can figure out, whether you
have the talents that could be put to use on the night.
Donate a night for breast cancer and join the volunteers
at The Playtex Moonwalk.
Walk the Walk came into being six years ago when just 13
women power walked The New York Marathon in their bras to
raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. What
started out as a once only fundraising event, has blossomed
into a thriving charity raising to date in excess of £12
million for breast cancer research and cancer care.
