The Theatre Museum

The Georgian House Hotel is the perfect place to stay if you are planning a visit to the Theatre Museum.  Based in Russell Street in Covent Garden, the Georgian House Hotel is a 10 minute bus ride away.  The underground is also  a quick and easy way to get there.

The Theatre Museum is the National Museum of the Performing Arts and a branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum. They have a similarly imaginative approach to catering for children and families. The collections cover most forms of live entertainment and they have a great daily programme of workshops, demonstrations and guided tours. Children have a chance to try out stage make-up and costumes, take to the stage or even learn basic stage techniques, such as sword-fights with Captain Hook. Families can really get a lot out of a trip to the Theatre Museum.

The Theatre Museum is completely free of charge and is very easy to get to. It is to be found in Russell Street, Covent Garden. You can reach it in 15 minutes from the hotel, by tube to Covent Garden, or a bus to the Strand.

You can combine a tour of the Theatre Museum with a tour of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The story of Drury Lane, one of Britain’s oldest and most magnificent theatres, is brought to life by key characters, writers and actors from the theatre’s 338-year history. Exploring the front of the house, backstage and fascinating under stage areas, the tour offers an unrivalled opportunity to soak up the theatre’s unique atmosphere. Continue the visit at the Theatre Museum where the story continues.

Visit www.theatremuseum.vam.ac.uk to find out more about events and opening times at the Theatre Museum.

Georgian House Hotel is ideally situated in a very central location, so visiting sights all over London is quick and easy.
